Christmastime was here before we knew it. I had toe surgery December 15...with being on crutches the girls had to prepare our Christmas eve dinner. They did a wondeful job. The were both a little squeemish about the turkey...but they got over it and it turned out very yummy...plenty of leftovers. Kaylie made a banana cream pie and both the girls created the famous candied yams. This year I was actually able to find yams...not just sweet potatoes...there is a difference. After dinner...and John helping with the cleaning up...since you know he chooses not to cook :-) We opened our "ONE" present..yes...pajamas for the family. Then we waited until 8 p.m. when Brinton called or skyped from Korea...we were able to talk to him via webcam. It was wonderful to see and talk to him. He is doing great, except he was miserable sick with a head cold. But he has recovered now of course.
After our hour long conversation...we headed out with Oreo (our cat) to see the Christmas lights. Though tramatic for Oreo...he somewhat enjoys it towards the end. He has bad memories of driving across the country when we moved here. The lights were fun...then it was bedtime and time for santa to make his visit.
Christmas morning wasn't too early...the kids have learned over the years...mom and dad need to sleep atleast until 8 but we push it until 8:30 if possible. The presents were opened and everyone was happy! The Christmas spirit was felt this year at the Johnson household. Now on to 2009!
